Surrounding mountains are the Mogollon Range, the Pinos Altos Range, Bear Mountain and Tadpole Ridge. Become one with nature by COMFORTABLY living off grid for your stay. The 50 acre property is bordered on two sides by the 3.2 million acres of the Gila National Forest. The nearest neighbor is a mile away. Help yourself to fresh herbs for cooking that are just outside your door. Sit and watch hummingbird wars from the portico.
528 sq ft Private Apartment The 528 sq ft off the grid apartment with private entrance is located within the Gila National Forest but has most modern conveniences. The apartment contains 2 bedrooms (one with a Queen size 4 poster bed and the other a full size antique bed). The living room/kitchen has a range with oven and a refrigerator that is fully stocked with plates, glasses, pots, and life’s necessities. Each room is equipped with a ceiling fan, though they are rarely needed as it cools off nightly.

Comfortable Living totally Off-GridHave you ever been curious about what it would be like to live totally off-grid yet comfortably? Your electricity is powered by solar. You will not find energy hogs like a microwave or a toaster in the apartment, but you will have a range with an oven that works just as well. Since this property is totally off-grid you will not have a Keurig to make coffee but will make better coffee with a French press (directions will be provided). There is no dishwasher, and I ask that you wash your dishes. For those that can’t leave behind electronic devices there is a TV with a DVD player, internet (though slow) and sometimes even cell phone service (there are no land lines). The water is from a well on the property, and the shower head is complete with a water saving setting if you choose. |
Located 20 minutes from Silver City within the Gila National Forest Canta a mi Alma is located 1.5 miles from the Continental Divide Trail. There are also other trails around for your discovery. With advance notice and an additional fee there is horseback riding located 3 miles from the apartment ($115 per person 1/2 day, $165 per person full day includes water & lunch). While there are many things to do in Silver City, the apartment is located 9 miles from paved roads in Silver City (the drive takes about 30 minutes on rough dirt forest roads ) and a 4x4 vehicle is HIGHLY recommended especially during monsoon season. I live next door, and I can orient you to the area and suggest things to do and see if you wish.

DOGS: $50 fee and preapproval. There are 3 Icelandic horses that freely roam the entire property and a dog and a couple of cats that live in my house. Since this property is located within the Gila National Forest and there are wild animals as well, I suggest you do not bring your dog. If you feel it necessary to bring your dog, I ask that you discuss it with me prior to making a reservation. I will insist that dogs are well behaved, leashed while on the property and not left unattended. Dogs are not permitted on the furniture or the beds. I also ask that you please clean up after your pet inside and out.
